Tuition and Financial Aid

Tuition for the M.F.A. programs in the Graduate School for the 2017–18 academic year is $52,231.

If you are in need of an application fee waiver, information regarding eligibility, application, and documentation can be found at www.brown.edu/academics/gradschool/application- fee-waivers. Please note that your completed fee waiver application must be submitted by December 20, 2017, which is two weeks in advance of the Brown/Trinity Rep deadline of January 4, 2018.

Financial aid is available in the form of a combination of full and partial tuition scholarships, modest living stipends, and student health insurance, which will be awarded at the time of acceptance. Awards are determined on the basis of financial need, past performance, and evidence of potential success in the program.

Students may be eligible to borrow through the Federal Direct Student Loan Program. Consideration for need-based federal aid (Federal Direct Loans) is based on status as a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. To borrow through this program, it is essential to complete the FAFSA. For additional information about eligibility and the applications for the Federal Direct Loan Program, contact the Graduate School Financial Aid Office at (401) 863-2721.

Applicants who wish to apply for scholarship support must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which can be filed online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The FAFSA is due no later than January 10, 2018.
